The precious-metal content of many articles is subject to UK hallmarking obligations where applicable. However, wider material risks can arise from the complete construction of an article, including alloy additions, solder, plating, findings and other component parts.
A hallmark addresses precious-metal fineness under hallmarking law. It should not be presented as proof that every material in a finished article meets REACH requirements.
